Approval List of New Food Raw Materials (Novel Food)

According to the NHC Notice of No.1, 2025 on Three New Food (new food raw material, new food additive, and new food-related product) issued by National Health Commission, new substance information has been updated to the following four databases:

1. Approval list of New Food Raw Materials (Novel food): 5 new raw materials

  • Stevia polyphenols
  • Lemon myrtle leaf
  • Maqui berry anthocyanins
  • Wheat polar lipids
  • Calcium β-hydroxy-β-methyl butyrate (CaHMB)

2. GB 2760-2024 Database: 6 new varieties of food additive

  • Butylated hydroxytoluene
  • Phosphodiesterase I
  • Lipase
  • Hydroxycitronellal
  • Curdlan (expand the allowed food scopes)
  • Enzymatically produced steviol glycosides (expand the allowed food scopes)

4. GB 14880-2012 Database: 3 new nutrition enhancers

  • 2’-fucosyllactose,2’-FL (two different sources)
  • Fructooligosaccharide (produced by the β-fructosyltransferase from Aspergillus japonicus)
