Background
According to the relevant regulations of People's Republic of China, the formula of prepackaged food (such as drinks, beverages, dairy, fruit juices, oil, baking products, bread, biscuits, chocolate, chips, etc.) must be compliant with the following Chinese laws/standards:
- 1. Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China (2015 version)
- 2. GB 2760-2014 The Usage of Food Additives (Positive list of food additives)
- 3. GB 14880-2012 The Usage of Nutrition Enhancers (Positive list of food nutrition enhancers)
- 4. National food safety standard of food raw materials.
- 5. Notices of newly approved food raw materials, food additives, and food nutrition enhancers.

Food Safety Law indicates that the food products which contain non-compliant raw material, food additives, nutrition enhancer, etc. should be forbidden during custom clearance. The requirements of different food additives/nutrition enhancers in different food products are different.
