Two strains from BioGrowing’s Flora-Focus® series – Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis BL-G101 and Weizmannia coagulans BC-G44 – recently obtained US Self GRAS notice with the support of the CIRS Group. This marks significant international recognition of BioGrowing’s products, offering consumers premium choices, and demonstrates the expertise and professional service capabilities of the CIRS Group.
What is US GRAS notice?
GRAS, or Generally Recognized as Safe, is a key regulatory pathway for the compliance of food ingredients. A product can only receive GRAS notice if it undergoes a thorough review and is unanimously deemed by a qualified panel of experts to meet GRAS standards.
Following a rigorous scientific procedure, the panel concluded that Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis BL-G101 and Weizmannia coagulans BC-G44, produced in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), are safe for use as food ingredients in traditional foods at their intended use and dosage levels, qualifying them as GRAS substances.
